🌱 A Food System That Works for Everyone
— Not Just Corporations
Across Britain, farming is under pressure. Big food companies and supermarket chains dominate the market, pushing farmers to grow crops that suit industrial production — not public health. Wheat, sugar beet, oilseed rape, and potatoes are turned into ultra-processed foods designed for profit, not nourishment.
At the same time, farmers are being paid less and less, while prices on the shelves keep rising. It’s a system that’s unfair and unsustainable — and it’s hurting our health, too. The rise in obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and diet-related illness tells a clear story: the food on our plates isn’t working for us.
But we believe there’s a better way.
At Farmbank, we’re helping to rebuild local farming from the ground up. We support farmers to grow real, nutritious food — the kind that sustains both people and the land. We help young farmers get access to affordable farmland. And we’re working to reconnect rural communities with the food they eat and the people who grow it.
It’s not just about farming. It’s about fairness, health, and hope — for farmers, for consumers, and for future generations.
